Under his leadership, Horton Homes became a well-known name, recognized for quality and affordability in the manufactured housing market. Dudley’s success in building and expanding his company laid the groundwork for a culture of excellence that has continued to evolve through the next generation.
A Foundation in Family and Innovation
Robert Horton grew up immersed in the family business, learning firsthand the values of hard work, leadership, and innovation from his father. Starting at a young age, Robert gained practical experience in various aspects of home manufacturing, always striving to improve efficiency and quality. By the time he was in college, Robert had taken on a leadership role as Vice President of Engineering at Horton Homes. There, he refined construction methods to enhance structural integrity while reducing material use—contributing to the construction of over 6,000 homes built with an emphasis on durability and efficiency.
A Vision for Sustainable Living
With a strong foundation in traditional homebuilding, Robert’s vision expanded to include sustainable housing solutions. Driven by a deep interest in renewable energy and sustainable materials, he collaborated with experts from the University of Georgia and the USDA to design homes that meet Net Zero standards, helping families enjoy modern, eco-friendly living with minimal energy costs.
Robert’s unique blend of hands-on experience and academic training, which includes a degree in business administration and a minor in Management of Information Systems, has equipped him with the skills to lead Penz Homes into a sustainable future. Today, Penz Homes proudly offers Pre-Engineered Net Zero homes that prioritize energy efficiency, resilience, and environmental responsibility.
